Balhannah Nurseries is South Australia’s leading wholesale supplier of deciduous fruit and ornamental trees for Retail Garden Centres and Commercial Growers.
Located in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, nestled in the Onkaparinga Valley at Charleston, our rich, dark loamy soils combine with cool crisp winters and clean dry summers to make the perfect conditions for growing and nurturing the finest deciduous fruit and ornamental trees in Australia.

We thank our supporters for their enduring loyalty to our great product range and brand and for making it possible to maintain the largest variety of fruit trees in South Australia. We trust we can be of tremendous service for many years to come. Please consider the following information when ordering trees grown by Balhannah Nurseries.
DELIVERIES
Balhannah Nurseries is proud of its good reputation. Retail garden centres and commercial growers can rest assured that their trees will reach them in the best possible condition regardless of the distance they have travelled. We transport trees throughout Australia and wherever possible our trees are personally delivered in our own trucks.
ORDERING TREES
Balhannah Nurseries is a wholesale nursery, and sells direct to retail garden centres and commercial fruit growers. If you wish to order our quality trees, then it’s worth knowing that our bare root fruit tree list, including new varieties, is sent to retail garden centres late in November to place orders for the following winter bare-rooted season. These orders are returned to the nursery by the end of January so we can finalise our stock figures and confirm our clients’ orders. Of course, we operate on a ‘first in, best dressed’ principle, so if you wish to ensure you get the specific fruit tree or ornamental of choice, it may be wise to place a forward order with your local garden centre. These trees will be ready for collection in early-mid June.
POTTED TREES TOO!
For almost 10 years Balhannah Nurseries has also been supplying retail nurseries with our well-known range of trees in pots, allowing the home gardener to purchase their favourite trees all year round. So if your patch is not quite ready in Winter, our trees will be available whenever you are ready to get your gloves on!
NEW VARIETIES
Almost every year fresh new varieties become available, and we have been excited with our continuous access to new innovative lines which help us provide the fruit trees and ornamentals which best compliment the modern home garden.
Since the launch of the dwarf Pink Lady apple called PinkabelleTM, a stream of new varieties has come online – the full set of dwarf stone fruit trees (peaches, nectarines and apricots), the donut-shaped Angel PeachTM, a great range of upright ornamental trees and more recently the spectacularly popular Blueberry Burst(PBR). The ongoing response to these exciting new varieties has been very encouraging…and there’s more to come!
The harvest dates listed in our catalogue are to be used as a guide only, as varieties ripen at different times depending on the location at which they are planted and seasonal variations in weather conditions. For example, fruit ripens earlier in the Adelaide Plains and the Riverland than in the cooler regions of South Australia’s southern coastal regions.
The ripening dates listed here come from observations taken from our own mother trees planted in the Adelaide Hills.
MULTIPLICATION BLOCK
Balhannah Nurseries has an extensive bud multiplication block. This allows us to trial a variety for trueness to type before using the bud wood in the propagation of our trees. Every care is taken to ensure varieties produced are true to type, and are of the highest health status. We have well in excess of 1000 trees on our block, which is being increased each year as new varieties are released.
NON-WARRANTY
We can assure you every possible care is taken when delivering trees from this nursery. However, because trees are a natural living product, we cannot give warranty — expressed or implied — as to their growth, description or productivity. We cannot bear responsibility for any amount greater than that actually paid should a tree prove to be untrue to its label.
DISCLAIMER
We have taken as much care as possible in the presentation of this website, but we must stress the information is purely a guide. It has been gathered from our own observations, and literature received from new varieties, all in good faith.
Balhannah Nurseries, or any of its employees, disclaim all responsibility for any damage, loss, costs or harm resulting from the use of all or part of the information contained in this website should it be incomplete or incorrect.
